Anderson vII pg538 - letter #579

I am not coming today, my dear fellow – but I will certainly do so tomorrow evening or during the following morning at latest – It would be wrong if you were to measure my fondness for the Countess and all of you solely by the frequency of my visits to you – There are reasons for the behavior of certain people which are not always easily explained and which are nevertheless based upon some unavoidable necessity – I should be very glad if the dear Countess were to send me a bottle of Spa water.  I don’t like to give up taking it for so long –

Let me add that I remain your debtor and friend
